In addition, shorter sections contain anecdotal and tabular material. The book is nicely illustrated, though some of its space could have been used more productively for more maps; the ones included are good but often cluttered. The quality and accessibility of textual information are very good. Most reference collections could use help with World War I, and this title will handle most general questions.-- Fritz Buckallew, Univ. of Central Oklahoma Lib., Edmond (c) Copyright 2010. Summary One of the most tumultuous eras in history is given a chronological account in each theater of the war, along with surveys of all the nations involved, accounts of their infantry, naval, and aviation forces, their weaponry and operational practices, and their unit organization, uniforms, and equipment -- as well as biographies of major military and naval personalities.
